While my script is not yet award winning (or produced) I consider it a smashing success!

I used FinalDraft software, which seems like the right choice to make sure formatting is compliant for production.

I started with index cards to brainstorm various scenes and made an outline for the movie. Structuring a screenplay to be the right length, right pacing, with interesting engaging characters etc. is definitely a science.

Read books and download scripts from dailyscript.com to get a feel for dialogue and scene descriptions in movies similar to yours. It's really fun to read a script along with watching a movie too. It helps you deconstruct how the movie was made, and you can see how much the actors improvised.
